Why create an Organization profile?

It’s helpful to create an Organization profile, so that there is a dedicated administrator that’s responsible for a group or brand’s presence.

Example: Susan wants to set up a Jump for her rec soccer team, the Aces, so she creates an Organization profile called the Aces. That way, when she shares schedule information on the Ace Jump, it posts from the Aces profile and not her personal account.

The other advantage is that multiple people can be an Admin on an Organization profile, which is an easy way to share leadership responsibilities. Plus, if Susan leaves the team, she can assign a new admin and the Ace Jump can live on.

What’s the difference between an Organization profile and a Jump?

Think of it this way: An Organization profile is the voice for a specific group. A Jump is the place where that voice goes to hang out and interact with friends or fans.

Example: Susan creates an Organization profile for her soccer team, the Aces. She then creates an Aces team Jump and invites all the players and coaches to join. That Jump provides a place for everyone to chat, share photos, create events and more. As an administrator, Susan can post key information (game times, announcements, etc.) and it will appear as an official Aces post, rather than from her personal account.

Do I have to have an Organization profile to make a Jump?

No way! Anyone can make a Jump, it only takes a second. The advantage of creating a Group profile is that 1. It provides an authority for a group. When Jump members see posts from the Organization profile in the Jump, they will know it’s from the admin and not an individual. 2. It makes it easy to share admin responsibilities, since Organization profiles can have more than one admin. 3. In groups that have always-changing members, it helps ensure that Jumps and Organizations can live on, even if someone leaves.
